How do EU citizens perceive intellectual property?

The European Union Intellectual Property Office has recently published a study on the perception of intellectual property among EU citizens. With more than 26,500 interviews, the study reveals that 97% of respondents believe that it is important that inventors, creators and performing artists can protect their rights and be paid for their work. 70% are against the purchase of counterfeit goods and 78% believe that buying counterfeits has a negative impact on businesses and jobs.
